Air conditioner smells bad
Bad smell when starting the air conditioner often appears because of condensate, dust and deposits inside the indoor unit.
Possible causes
- dirty filters
- deposits in condensate tray
- partially clogged drain
- mold in heat exchanger or fan
- unit not cleaned for a long time
What you can check
- clean filters if the manual allows it
- observe whether smell appears only at startup
- check whether the unit leaks water
- send photo of indoor unit and access to it
