Toilet keeps running
A toilet that keeps running can waste a lot of water and can indicate an issue with the cistern mechanism, float valve, gasket or water inlet valve.

Possible causes
- float valve incorrectly adjusted or blocked;
- worn gasket on the flush mechanism;
- deposits preventing tight closing;
- faulty inlet valve;
- old or incompatible mechanism.
What to observe
- whether water runs inside the bowl or outside;
- whether the cistern fills continuously;
- whether the button stays stuck;
- whether the inlet valve can be closed;
- brand or mechanism type, if visible.
When to request service
If you cannot stop the water from the local valve, if water leaks outside or if the cistern is concealed and hard to access, requesting service is safer.
