Water service connection leak
A leak on the water service connection may require plumbing inspection and sometimes manual or mechanical excavation for repair.
Possible causes
- cracked fitting in meter pit
- old or leaking valve
- buried pipe crack
- settlement or frost
- high pressure or water hammer
What to observe
- where water appears at surface
- whether the meter turns without consumption
- photos of meter pit and affected area
- whether surface is asphalt, concrete, soil or paving
- machine access if needed

Depending on location, work may be manual or with backhoe, with repair of the affected route.
