Socket not working
If a socket no longer powers any appliance, the cause can be in the socket, circuit, panel or supply to that area.
Possible causes
- tripped breaker for that circuit
- loose contact in socket or junction box
- broken conductor or oxidized connection
- burnt socket or damaged mechanism
- fault in an appliance previously connected
What you can check
- check whether other sockets in the same room work
- visually check for heat marks
- do not insert objects into the socket
- send photos of the socket and electrical panel
When to request service
If the problem affects multiple sockets, if there are burn marks or if the breaker trips again, an electrical check is needed.
